Excellence is rooted in discipline. Without rewards and consequences, fostering a healthy discipline becomes impossible. BMC stands at a pivotal point within this department; it must choose to be intentional and proactive in offering advancement opportunities for this group or not. This straightforward solution requires the leadership to recognize this workforce as more than just young Black men washing cars. These individuals need leadership, structure, consistency, and someone ready to support them through this journey. Over the past thirty years, I have established myself as a community activist, visionary, pioneer, and cultural thought leader. However, the current structure at BMC contradicts my moral and professional values regarding young Black men. I am open to remaining in my current managerial position, provided the leadership team fully supports the solutions outlined above without delay. Otherwise, I cannot compromise the well-being of these young men or myself if BMC fails to acknowledge the importance of offering these essential opportunities.
